About the Artist

Tracey Jen is a 2nd generation Taiwanese-American artist and curator, originally from West Lafayette, IN. She received her BFA in Painting and Drawing from Indiana University Bloomington in 2015 and her MFA in Curatorial Practice and her Post-Bac in Fine Art from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, MD in 2019. Her art practice includes traditional and new media, installation, and socially engaged art, which center on her own identity struggles growing up in a multicultural environment and her search for the meaning of life. Her work draws from both her reality and imagination, describing the natural flow of her world and creating a space of comfort.

She shares her perspective with others in hopes to spark ideas, conversations, and the love for learning. In 2019 she curated the art exhibition and programs for CROSSOVER at Gallery CA in Baltimore, which explored the transformation of Chinese culture due to time, trade, migration, intercultural interactions, politics, and technological advancement. She continues to promote the awareness of hybridized identities and culture.

She currently runs Dreams Art Studio, where she continues her creative endeavors. She teaches private online art lessons (1.5 hr/class) to children and adults. Her goal is for the students to explore their interests and learn how to balance observational art with their imagination. 2D and 3D projects are designed and tailored to fit each student's interest and enhance their creativity, problem solving, and communication skills.
